Hi Nathan. Thank you very much for the guide. Works great! I want to add sth.

Since i upgraded my TG585v7 to firmware 8.2.7 i lost telnet with the router. But i found the solution. After saving user.ini from router ,edit the file localy and add the line
"ipadd name=TELNET ip=your_ip" under lines "ipadd name..... Now backup again the ini file to router and you are done! You can telnet again.

Hi Sam,

I've only done this on the v2 of the o2 router so I don't know what you have to do for that one. Presumably there must be somewhere in the settings that you have to add an entry to - in the v2 case it was an ARP address that you need to do... please post back how you get on

Another big thank you from me for this information. I was having a real headache getting the router to forward the port until I found your instructions to add a static arp entry.

Strangely, I recently plugged my ethernet cable into a different port on the router and it started giving me a different IP, breaking everything. It might not have been the different router port but it seems a strange coincidence. Anyway, just had to follow your instructions again and it's working fine once more. Cheers!

Hey there, I had that issue - did the following not help followed by a save all again?

NOTE: I had this gotcha when I had to redo this on my router after a hard reset… You need to have your target machine powered down once you delete the ARP entry, otherwise it gets assigned another one dynamically – so beware of this if you find that your new entry is still DYNAMIC rather than STATIC.
