Keynestock 2006 Rocked!!!

Well Keynestock was awesome, it was a great atmosphere despite the bitter build up that had resulted from a few “unnamed” people on thestudentbar and lots of alcohol was consumed by all!

I stupidly went to the Venue the night before with the rare aim of staying relatively sober but did that happen? Hell no… I think what ruined me was the fact that I had a couple of slices of pizza and then crashed out – the pizza remained in my stomach until the morning. I felt so sick and rubbish that I wanted to be sick just to get rid of that feeling, it was made worse because I was nervous that I was going to feel sick on stage!

Despite that, as soon as we got on stage all of the nerves went and my stomach stopped punishing me – that might have had something to do with taking the hair of the dog but who knows!

Our set went pretty darn well aside from the odd mistake that (mostly) only ourselves noticed and the croud seemed to enjoy our set especially Mr Brightside that we ended on (see video below). Going on what people had come up to me and told me, their favorite track was our cover of Jimmy Eat World’s “Hear You Me”, which made me feel especially proud as that was the song I was singing the main part for so thanks you guys!

Unfortunately the band that were judging, The Gourami, were cut off half way through their set due to a fire alarm. I was really enjoying their set and by that point I had managed to get pretty drunk so was bouncing around like a twat, so much so that I clashed head with nose with poor Sam (sorry!!!). While everyone was outside for the fire alarm the results were announced as follows:

  1. Makeshift Minstrels
  2. Lucy Kitt
  3. (Joint) Gabi and the Whoremoans, Dr Dark

Once that was announced I went to the venue and got even more drunk with what was left of my band (don’t think Rich made it lol)

Here’s a mugshot of a moody band pose from before our set:

Any Other Day

There are lots more photos from the day in my gallery here thanks to John using my camera while we were on stage and also James May who was one of the photographers for the day.

Thanks to all that made the day happen at the JCC and everyone else that was involved, also thanks to everyone that turned up to make it a great event both for us and the rest of the bands! Its always an awesome event each year!

Another funky guitar vid

Some people on thestudentbar think that this is easier than it looks but I still think its cool – who said guitar has to be hard to be cool anyway… personally I wish I could do some of the things this guy does on the video!

New Axe

DSCN2403Check out my new Axe! Its only right that some of my last ever student loan goes towards something musical and this is it, its an Ibanez Destroyer in matte black and its awesome!

I spent a lot of the weekend tweaking with the pickup heights and it plays harmonics so well, its nice to have two different guitars because my old one is still useful on certain songs that we play as it has a different sound. This ones a lot more beefier and in ya face! Mwahah
