LEGO can tell if you are lying!

LEGO Mindstorm Lie detectorIt’s true, those little bits of plastic can now tell if you are lying! OK, well not quite the little blocks but some clever people have built a lie detector sensor to attach to the LEGO Mindstorm unit. I found out about it through the Engadget article here.

It is fairly basic in the sense that it is simply made from some aluminium foil and then they record the resistance changes as the body reacts to something, e.g. a question!

I think its a genius idea as it is pretty cute idea because of its sheer simplicity

USB Web Server

WOS Portable – CH Software provide a web server that can sit on a USB stick!

The stable version includes the following that all run from the USB stick:

  • Apache 2.0.55
  • MySQL 4.1.15
  • PHP 4.4.1/PHP 5.0.5
  • PhpMyAdmin 2.6.4-pl4

Thats pretty decent I reckon, worth a look if you’re a geek ;)

WordPress can even be installed if you are really erm, strange… see here.

My friends that I have mentioned it to have said “well whats the point?!” to which I respond, after having thought the same thing, “It makes demonstrating a web site to a client very easy and doesn’t mean they need web hosting or access to the internet”.

Google Goo

Google GooHow random Google Goo, just looking around the googlestore for the first time makes me chuckle. There are lots of random things on there and they aren’t as expensive as I’d have imagined…

Something to check out if you are bored…

Google MiniAlso check out the Google Mini – your own Google server rack!! It says its for intranets and stuff, cant imagine how lightning quick it would be; it looks pretty funky too! I wonder if you get the GoogleOS that they are rumoured to use internally at Google (Goobuntu apparently)…

Google are also continuing their quest to run the world through its information with the Google Web Accelerator!

Winamp 5.2??

Winamp logoWell after having it on my system for less than a day, it is already off!I have gone back to 5.13 because it actually works; every time I started up the newer version it mentions something about not being able to find an entry point and then reverts the skin colour theme back to default! I’m not sure if this happens for anyone else but since it does for me, its enough to make me wait until the next release to bother upgrading…

So, the lesson here is – stick to an older version until Winamp release a fully working one.

Bye Bye Microsoft Ads!

You know those annoying adverts that come through on web messenger and hotmail, well if you have the adblock extension on firefox (or even something cool on your router) then adding “rad.msn” will tend to block a lot of the annoying adverts!

Not sure if it will block useful services from MS but it seems to work pretty well on at least the web messenger (I haven’t tried it on a router for if it blocks annoying adverts in the real MSN app)…
