USB Web Server

WOS Portable – CH Software provide a web server that can sit on a USB stick!

The stable version includes the following that all run from the USB stick:

  • Apache 2.0.55
  • MySQL 4.1.15
  • PHP 4.4.1/PHP 5.0.5
  • PhpMyAdmin 2.6.4-pl4

Thats pretty decent I reckon, worth a look if you’re a geek ;)

WordPress can even be installed if you are really erm, strange… see here.

My friends that I have mentioned it to have said “well whats the point?!” to which I respond, after having thought the same thing, “It makes demonstrating a web site to a client very easy and doesn’t mean they need web hosting or access to the internet”.

Google Goo

Google GooHow random Google Goo, just looking around the googlestore for the first time makes me chuckle. There are lots of random things on there and they aren’t as expensive as I’d have imagined…

Something to check out if you are bored…

Google MiniAlso check out the Google Mini – your own Google server rack!! It says its for intranets and stuff, cant imagine how lightning quick it would be; it looks pretty funky too! I wonder if you get the GoogleOS that they are rumoured to use internally at Google (Goobuntu apparently)…

Google are also continuing their quest to run the world through its information with the Google Web Accelerator!

Rutherford Gig Cancelled

Unfortunately our gig tonight was cancelled due to Class War cancelling – they had the PA and were the only other band due to play tonight. It would have been nice to have notice before actually getting all the heavy amps and equipment into the bar and half set up before being told it was cancelled… I’m sure Class War have their reasons.

Looking for another gig for Any Other Day before the end of term now…

Keynestock Audition

Last night was Any Other Day’s first gig and it went really well, which is handy since it was our audition for the UKC music festival, Keynestock! Rich’s destroying of his drumkit after the first song was classic! We will be returning on Saturday at Rutherford college!

Thanks to all those who came to the Lighthouse in support, it was a great night and we all enjoyed playing!
